Do you provide props and outfits?
These sessions focus on minimal props and natural setups to capture the beauty of these first moments. Simple swaddles and props can be added to your session and parents are welcome to use any special items they may have brought.
How long does the session take?
In-hospital newborn sessions are brief, typically lasting 15–30 minutes, to keep things comfortable for both mom and baby during this early bonding time.
When should I book my in-hospital newborn session?
For scheduled births, it’s best to book the session as soon as possible, aiming for around 10–23 hours after the expected birth time.
If the birth timing is uncertain, consider booking for your due date, then once the baby arrives, reschedule your session asap to be 10–23 hours after the actual birth time.
Can siblings or other family members be included in the photos?
Yes, siblings can be included in a few photos to capture those first family moments.
Do I need to prepare anything for the session?
About an hour before the session, please feed and change your baby into the chosen outfit. Sessions are kept brief for everyone’s comfort and to allow any necessary medical care. Having the baby ready helps make the most of your photo time.
I had a home birth. Can you do the session in my home?
No, these sessions are only available at the two hospitals where CSM currently provides services.
What if my baby needs to stay in the NICU?
Each birth experience is unique. If a baby is in the NICU, they will remain in their NICU bed and stay connected to all necessary medical devices throughout the session.
Are these sessions private?
Yes, sessions are conducted directly in the hospital room with minimal equipment and disruption, ensuring comfort and privacy.
How soon will I receive the photos?
Images are delivered immediately at the end of the session through one of the following methods: AirDrop, direct transfer to a phone, download from an online gallery, or via a USB flash drive available for purchase on-site.
Do I have to be in the photos?
Health and comfort come first. You absolutely do not have to be in the photos. You don't even need to be awake! I have done sessions of just baby while mom rests and gets to wake up to a memorable surprise of sweet photos.

These brief, in-hospital sessions are designed for convenience and comfort within hours of birth, while respecting the care needed for mom and baby. With minimal props and quick setup, these photos provide beautiful, immediate keepsakes to announce your little one's arrival and cherish your first moments together.
Longer, more involved newborn sessions with outfit changes and elaborate props typically occur within the first month and are priced higher due to the time, detail and studio space involved. There are many excellent local photographers offering these services.
What payment methods are accepted?
Payments are accepted at the end of the session. All major credit cards, cash, Venmo, and Apple Cash are welcome. A credit card is required to book an appointment, but it will not be charged until the session ends to allow for coupon usage.
